Crochet this beanie for yourself or make some as presents for the holiday time. Thank you to my daughter Yasmin for modelling the beanie! This soft, puffy beanie design can be worn as a relaxed slouchy hat or with a folded brim for a tighter fit.
You can easily make this beanie by following the step-by-step video tutorial linked from the video thumbnail.
What you need
I used a new yarn called Fable by West Yorkshire Spinners in England. It is a lovely soft mix of wool, alpaca and mohair. The yarn is Aran weight and I had a hook 5mm. The finished beanie weighs 125 grams (4½ oz) so you need two balls. This hat is in color Feather, 1223. The yarn comes in many soft, natural shades.
Stitch
The mini bead stitch is easy to learn by heart. It is worked in multiples of only two stitches and all the rows are the same as the second row. We make the beanie in the round but the stitch requires that we turn after every round. This is shown clearly in the video.
When you want to use the mini bead stitch for another project, check this video tutorial of just the stitch: Mini bead stitch tutorial.
