When you crochet the mesh two rows at the same time, it goes much faster. The technique is simple to learn. I have both a video and written instructions on how to crochet it. You can use crocheted mesh in so many ways.

  • Scarf, shawl, poncho
  • Blanket, baby blanket, afghan
  • Tote bag, beach bag. See an example of a tote bag here!
  • Kitchen cloth, face cloth
  • Coaster, table runner
  • Curtain
  • Beach wrap
  • Rug

Many of these items can also be made using left-over yarn. Here I have crocheted a piece out of tiny balls of yarn I had.

Instructions: How to crochet 2-row mesh

You can crochet the mesh in any yarn, the size of the spaces depends on the weight of your yarn. Use a hook that goes with the yarn.

Any length of a chain + chain 8

Starting row

2 yarn-overs, insert the hook into the 5th stitch from the hook. Pull up a loop. Yarn-over, hook through 2 loops, leave the rest of the loops on the hook (3 loops on the hook). Yarn-over, skip 3 chains, hook in the next chain. Pull up a loop. (See image) (Yarn-over, hook through 2 loops) 4 times.
